How to Get Rid of Dark Spots and Hyperpigmentation Caused by Acne

Acne scarring and dark marks as a result of acne and constant breakouts tend to go hand in hand.  Both of these things can be difficult to remove and require a consistent routine to get rid of them.  Acne scarring and dark spots can seem like they've arrived overnight but, they didn't and they can't be removed in just one night either.

Dark spots, dark marks, or hyperpigmentation can be distressing especially as a result of acne that has healed on the face.  The worst part is over, and that's the inflammation and pimples, but you're still left with horrible dark spots that take a long time to go away and that may never leave unless you treat them.  Finding out the cause of breakouts is also important, whether it is due to allergies, or is just something that is chronic, you'll want to find out the cause and stop it, to ensure that you won't be fighting dark spots and hyperpigmentation constantly.  If you want to get rid of these spots in the fastest time possible, a consistent routine is what you'll need and you'll also need quality skin lightening and hyperpigmentation removal products.

1. First, start with cleansing the area thoroughly twice daily to make sure that the pores don't get clogged and the surface of the skin stays clean.  This is very important because it helps to keep breakouts at bay and can even stop them completely.  So, make using a high quality cleanser twice daily and exfoliating at least once a week a priority.  Keeping the skin clean is of the outmost importance both when trying to get rid of dark marks and when trying to stop breakouts.

2. Using a high quality, potent skin lightening cream after cleansing twice daily is one of the most important steps when lightening hyperpigmentation.  This is applied right away after cleansing and lightly pat drying the face.  Use a dime sized amount and just enough to cover the face entirely so that the dark spots lighten and even tones within the shortest period of time so, make sure to apply it consistently.

3. Another important step to lightening stubborn dark spots especially as a result of acne is to protect the skin from tanning.  How do you do that, especially the face?  You apply sunscreen to any areas that will be exposed, wait at least 5 minutes before going outdoors, and do not stand in direct sunlight at all if you can avoid it and for more than 10-15 minutes at time even with sunscreen on.  It is important to remember that if you get too much sun, this will call the skin to tan and effectively negate all of the hard work that it takes to remove dark spots.

Follow these steps consistently until the spots are gone and if you have any questions along the way, please live chat with a knowledgeable skin care expert 24/7 on the Tonique website.
