Long Term Skin Lightening

Whitening the skin several shades and maintaining your new lighter tone is absolutely possible. If you know how to maintain the results of your skin whitening/lightening creams you can have an excellent long lasting result. For many people the hard part isn't lightening the tone, but maintaining their new lighter, desired tone.

How To Maintain a Lighter Skin Tone

Long Term Skin Whitening

In order to lighten the tone you must follow the instructions for application such as applying once or twice per day in the morning and/or evening. Once you've done this consistently for a while you should expect and receive good results depending on the potency of the products that you apply. If you take care to not tan the skin while applying the whitening products once you've finally gotten to your goal tone, it is now time to maintain your results.

Maintaining your skin whitening/lightening results can be one of the most difficult parts of the process. While it may prove difficult at first once you've gotten the hang of what works for you and your skin it does become easier. Some people can easily maintain their lighten tone by continuing to use the same product but just once every other day. While others have to continue using the product at least once a day for maintenance. it is important to remember that everyone's skin is different and you have to find what works for you. For most the easiest way to maintain your skin lightening results is to "trick" your skin into staying light and not reverting back to its natural tone. The best way to do this is by keeping close tabs on whether or not you are starting to redarken. If the skin starts to redarken that just means that the melanin in your skin has found a more effective way of handling the product that you are using and has found a way to combat it. If you find that applying your product just once a day is not working for you, try twice daily and if you are still redarkening try using a stronger product.

Skin Adaptation

Once your skin gets used to the product you are using it is time to switch it up so that you do not redarken. The skin tends to adapt so, it is important to try to "trick" it so that you can continue to get the results you want, which is a lighter tone or to maintain your lighter skin tone.  So if you find that you're not getting the same results that you initially got, switch to another product for a while and then you can go back to your original product.

As is mentioned in the article above, the easiest part of lightening is when you are using a product that continues to work well and continues to get you as close as possible to your goal tone. Once you've gotten to your new lighter skin tone it is important to find a way to maintain it.
